It is so good to see a hotel group providing ne dining that can be enjoyed autonomously.
The Harbour Heights Hotel in Sandbanks has many assets to boast about and none more than its Harbar restaurant. It’s impressive, well respected and rightly so.
After one breaks through the typical hotel maze telephone system, booking a table is straightforward (and very necessary in the summer months), and it is always instinctive to ask for a window table. However, here’s a helpful tip; all of the tables have breathtaking Poole Harbour views one way or another!
As soon as one walks into Harbar the environment is rewarding; friendly sta , a bustling and busy area backdropped with marine sh tanks, local art, a view to end all views, and so to the bar.
Spirits or wine? Either way the choice is outstanding, although the wine may just have the edge here, thanks to a real emphasis on viticulture, with equal value put on New and Old World wines of note and a head sommelier with real passion.
The menu is simple and invariably there is a choice of ve starters, ve mains, and desserts. The ratio of meat to sh is fair, it is always reassuring to see chef making the most of the area’s nest ingredients be they from surf or turf. Home-made bread choices with salted butter keep the wolves at bay as chef prepares our order.
